unable to ping from VPCS host to R1 DHCP Server

Sat Apr 16, 2016 1:01 pm

I am having some issues on a really basic setup I have. I know I am missing something basic.

I have three VPCS (PC1, PC2, PC3) connected to a dumb Ethernet Switch connected to f/0/0 on R1(ip address 192.168.10.1/24)

R1 interface F0/1 (ip address 192.168.11.1/24) connected to R2 interface f0/0(Ip addresss 192.168.11.2/24)

R2 interface f0/1(ip address 10.10.10.1/24) is connected to VPCS(PC4)

I setup ip helper on the R2 F0/1 pointing back to R1 F0/0

basically it looks like:

[PC1-3] -------(R1)-------(R2)-----[PC1]

I am doing this to make a simple lab in GNS3 to learn ip helper . I setup static routing between the routers so that I can ping back and forth from the routers from any interface I tested using the ip x.x.x.x source x.x.x.x

it automatically handed out my IP through DHCP to all the PC so everything I was testing works.

However, I tried to ping from [PC1] to (R1) and nothing happens. I tried to sit and think what the hex is wrong. I know that [PC1] will say this this ip is not not on my network so it will send the packet to the default gateway which and then I thought the DG would say I don't connect to this subnet but I have a route that says how to get to that subnet see below.

What am I missing logically it makes sense that it will work but I think I am missing something simple and basic but for the life of me I cannot see it.

R2#show ip route
Codes: C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, M - mobile, B - BGP
D - EIGRP, EX - EIGRP external, O - OSPF, IA - OSPF inter area
N1 - OSPF NSSA external type 1, N2 - OSPF NSSA external type 2
E1 - OSPF external type 1, E2 - OSPF external type 2
i - IS-IS, su - IS-IS summary, L1 - IS-IS level-1, L2 - IS-IS level-2
ia - IS-IS inter area, * - candidate default, U - per-user static route
o - ODR, P - periodic downloaded static route

S 192.168.10.0/24 [1/0] via 192.168.11.1
C 192.168.11.0/24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0/0
10.0.0.0/24 is subnetted, 1 subnets
C 10.10.10.0 is directly connected, FastEthernet0/1
