The gray on white color scheme is a double-edged sword. It gives the site an attractive metallic look, but it's terrible on the eyes while reading...and greater than 50% of what you do on a forum is read.
Assuming you're reading and analyzing posts multiple times to absorb all the details before compiling a response, and writing and revising a response multiple times for accuracy, then all that translates to a LOT of staring at very faint text and almost transparent borders, etc while your eyes get pummeled by the color scheme. There's a reason why technical blogs, vendor KB articles, docs, etc stick with the boring and traditional, but functional black on white...and why (as Steven said) most of us change our console output to something with high contrast.
I acknowledge that new owners == new vision and direction, but hope functionality, usability, and readability isn't compromised in the process. Thanks for considering.
