Thread of the year

No one has mentioned anything about a thread of the year so far.

I have to nominate "Belken home routers vs Cisco enterprise routers", yes the thread that gave us the BCEB: Belkin Certified Expert Baffler

Re: Virl is out

VIRL does the "link to the outside world" thing so yeah, you should be able to connect it to anything, same as GNS3

Re: Virl is out

I can't think of the last time I needed more than 15 Cisco VMs for anything.
If I do need more I can use GNS3 and connect VIRL and GNS3's networks

Re: Virl is out

IMO there are 2 big reasons 1.) Nexus 2.) more up to date router OSs with all the new features. And that is assuming you don't want all those auto config and mapping features. BTW if any of you are parents students or staff at a school or university you get access for "only" $80 "This...

Re: Remote captures with Raspberry Pie

Yep the x11 forwarding is what I am doing, I saw a video on how to do it, they just couldn't use a monitor port cause there was only 1 interface. I just added the RSPAN and trunking stuff. :-)

I honestly am not much of a linux person to know if any of that other stuff would work.

Remote captures with Raspberry Pie

Live remote capture with less than $50 worth of hardware (raspberry pie and flash card), using 1 port. This is something I put together in ~ an hour, no great amount of testing has been done. What we are doing is making a RSPAN on the switch that forwards a monator session to a vlan, that vlan then ...

Re: How are MPLS' Private

MPLS is private in that once your packets are in the MPLS cloud they are marked so they only go to you, they are marked (in general) with a route-distingusiher (rd) (although it's really used I figured I would throw it in so you have something of a point for study for MPLSVPNs) and generally 2 MPLS ...

I try not to be racest, but in general I don't feel that Indians are as good as Americans. I think their educational systems focus on memorizing things and passing tests, most of the ones I have met don't understand what they are working on and if it's a little different than what they have memorize...

Packet cap comes before or after the firewall?

Just hoping someone here knows the answer off hand, if you do a wireshark or tcpdump capture on a destination PC, and that PC's firewall is set to block those packets will the packet show up in the capture?
