MX5 is a good fit. Gives you 20X 1Gb ports from the start and 4 on-board 10Gb ports

They usually set up far fewer SP-focused racks compared to R&S - When I did mine I was the only candidate doing SP on the day though. I did mine in Brussels

Forget about OSPF and BGP for now. How do you want these DCs to connect to each other? How will they connect to the outside world? What services need to be running between them?

Just be careful about any tagged bpdu making its way through... A bpdu for vlan 100 tagged with vlan 101 will cause ports receiving them to go into inconsistent mode.

Nothing beats a Cisco me3x00x or a Juniper MX for vlan manipulation though. Brocade is a close second
