I was under the impression that win2k3s didn't have a terminal emulator built-in... is that the case?

It does not install by default, you have to install it from Add/Remove.

I used two emulators , HyperTerminal and SecureCRT

9600baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and NO FLOW CONTROL.
